If you’ve been wearing the same pair of eyeglasses every day for all your daily activities, including work, sports, driving, reading, and watching TV, you may not be getting all the vision help glasses can offer. At our
Larchmont optical store, Dr. Chris DiGiorgio can teach you about the different types of eyeglass lenses available for all your various lifestyle activities. If you work in front of a computer for long periods of time, it's not uncommon to experience blurred vision, eye strain, red eyes and other symptoms of computer vision syndrome (CVS). This is because the visual demands of working on a computer are different from those related to most other activities.
Vision Exams Larchmont
Computer eyeglass lenses, available at our
Larchmont optical store, are an occupational progressive lens, a no-line multifocal, that corrects near, intermediate and, distance vision. These lenses have a larger intermediate zone than regular progressive lenses, leaving less space for distance. Computer eyeglass lenses are not recommended for driving or regular wear. If you're under age 40, blurred vision or eye strain during computer work is often caused by the inability of your eyes to remain properly focused on the computer screen, or because your eyes have difficulty changing focus from your keyboard to your screen and back again for prolonged periods. If you're over age 40, the problem may be due to the onset of presbyopia, which is the normal age-related condition where you lose the ability to focus on things close up.
Computer eyeglass lenses are different from regular eyeglass lenses or reading glasses, and optimize your eyesight when viewing your computer screen in many ways. Computer eyeglass lenses include special lens coatings that reduce glare and a special tint that is designed to eliminate eye strain. Without computer eyeglasses, many of our customers at our
Larchmont optical store that are computer users, often end up with blurred vision, eye strain, and headaches. Computer eyeglass lenses put the optimum lens power for seeing your computer screen exactly where you need it for a clear, wide field of view without the need to strain to focus or sit with unhealthful postures. Research has shown that people who wear computer eyewear have significantly increased productivity with work.
